OUPES Weekly Q&A Vol. 1: Solar Panel Compatibility & Payment Guide

Can I connect third-party solar panels with OUPES power station? How can I tell if my solar panel is suitable?

Yes, you can use third party solar panels with OUPES power stations, but you need to pay attention to the Solar Input of the OUPES power station that you purchase.

For example, the Solar Input of Mega 1 is 12-80V, which means that the solar panel's volts has to within this range. Therefore, please check the solar panel's Open Circut voltage (OCV) within the voltage range of the OUPES power station you are buying.

Take our 240W solar panel as an example, the OCV of OUPES 240W solar panel is 24.6V, which is within the range of 12-80V of Mega 1; 80V divided by 24.6 equals to 3.25 which is more than 3, that means that Mega 1 can be adapted to work with up to 3*240W solar panels.

After purchasing an OUPES power station, do I need to buy additional cables for connection?

All of OUPES power stations come with the cables that you need for variety of charging methods.

However, if you have other needs such as:

  1. If you want to extend the distance of the AC charging cable, then you need to buy our AC charging extension cable

How many solar panels should I purchase? How can I know what is the maximum number supported by your power station?

This will depend on the Solar input of your OUPES power station, let's take Mega 1 as an example, the Solar Input of Mega 1 is 12-80V, which means the total volts of all the solar panels combined can't be below or above this range. You can find the solar input of your OUPES station on the product site or user manual.

The open circuit voltage (OCV) of our 240W solar panel is 24.6V, which is within the range of 12-80V of Mega 1; 80V divided by 24.6 equals to 3.25, which means that the Mega 1 can be adapted to a maximum of 3 official 240W solar panels in series.
